The present invention proposes to couple information from a Wide-Area Monitoring System WAMS and from a Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition SCADA system of a power system, such that a Security Status of the power system as observed from WAMS security indicators is associated, or correlated, with the static Operating Point of the power system as observed by SCADA operating state variables. Specifically, a candidate OP of the power system may be classified as insecure if an associated security indicator such as a damping ratio of a least-damped inter-area oscillation falls below a limit. Sophisticated data mining or machine learning techniques handle the potentially overwhelming amount of data involved in the proposed processes in an efficient and scalable manner. |
