This endoscope system (1) is provided with: an insertion section (6); an observation window (8) that is provided to the insertion section (6) and that acquires a first subject image from a first region; an observation window (8b) that is provided to the insertion section (6) and that acquires a second subject image from a second region of which at least a portion differs from the first region; an illumination window (7) that outputs first illumination light at the first region; an illumination window (7b) that outputs second illumination light at the second region; an illumination control unit (31) that causes a first illumination unit and second illumination unit to intermittently output illumination light in a manner so as to include at least a state in which the first illumination light and second illumination light are output simultaneously, and a state in which only one of the first illumination light and second illumination light is output; and a control unit (42) that generates an image on the basis of the first subject image acquired via the observation window (8) while the first illumination light is output, and a second subject image acquired by the observation window (8b) while the second illumination light is output. |
