The present invention relates to a drive device and a control method using an air-hydro converter which reduce a moving speed of a cylinder rod when the cylinder rod reaches a position adjacent to a target position to allow for precise position control, and apply a piston instead of a disk in a converter to drive the converter regardless of an installation direction of the converter. The drive device using an air-hydro converter comprises: an air injection pump to emit compressed air; a solenoid valve to control a flow direction and blocking of the compressed air transferred from the air injection pump; a first and a second air-hydro converter to convert a pressure of the compressed air transferred from the solenoid valve into an oil pressure; a proportional control valve connected to the first and the second air-hydro converter; a cylinder connected to the proportional control valve; a sensor to detect a position of a cylinder rod of the cylinder; and a control unit to control the proportional control valve and the solenoid valve using a signal inputted from the sensor. |
