A space-saving folding table and seat unit 2 comprises: a table 4; at least one seat 6; a housing 8 for receiving the table 4 and seat 6; closure means, e.g. roller shutter 10, for closing an opening in the housing 8; first movement control means, e.g. articulated linkage 12 which attaches the table 4 and seat 6 to the housing 8 and which enables the table 4 and seat 6 to move from a stored position in the housing 8 to a second position in which they extend out of the housing 8; and second movement control means, e.g. pivot connection 14, which enables parts of the table 4 and seat 6, e.g. legs 16, 18, to move between a use position and a storage position. The table and seats are arranged such they can be folded flat and vertical within the housing 8. The first movement control means may comprise separate control means for each of the table and seat(s). The control means may be a pair of articulated arms [25,27, Fig. 4] which space the table and seats from the rear wall of the housing. The table and seat unit is suitable for use where space is limited, e.g. balconies, gardens, terraces. |
