A fan (25, Fig 1) for use in a combine cleaning section is provided. The fan aids the separating of the grain from lighter material, and has an impellor 40 comprising a plurality of blades 42 supported from a central shaft 41 via a number of discs 43. The blades are attached around the peripheries of the discs and the impellor is rotatable about the central shaft which extends transversely relative to the walls 44 of fan ducting. The ends of the impellor are supported in a recessed manner from the walls of the ducting so that the axially outermost support disc 43a, 43b at each end of the central shaft projects into a recess 44a, 44b in the wall of the ducting at least as far as the local walls of the fan ducting. Advantageously impellor efficiency is significantly improved. |
