An ONU using a self test of ONU and an optical transceiver power control method are provided to block the power source of optical transmission and receiving part of ONU and prevent the communication error of normal ONU by continuation of optical output by performing a self diagnosis. A plurality of ONUs sharing the same line as OLT comprising the PON(Passive Optical Network) system performs real time monitoring the optical power of its own optical transmission and receiving section through a self test unit(S110). According to the optical power situation where the self-examination part is monitored through a monitoring unit, the logic signal is outputted(S120). A signal comparing unit compares optical transmission enable signal of an optical transmission part and logic signal(S130). The signal comparison part outputs the power control signal according to the comparison result(S140). The power control signal in which the controller of the corresponding ONU is outputted is received.
