PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a host apparatus that enables any one of various devices to be connected to the host apparatus to be used even when the host apparatus does not have a sufficient storage capacity. SOLUTION: When a scanner 50 is connected to a USB host interface 42, the projector 10 recognizes the scanner 50, outputs a request asking to acquire firmware XA that is necessary when the machine (projector 10) is used with the scanner 50 to a web server 60, and allows the scanner 50 to hold the firmware XA after the web server 60 inputs the firmware XA. Therefore, even if the storage capacity of a RAM 36 of the projector 10 is not sufficient, any of various types of devices is connected to the host apparatus to be used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
