PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the injury of an occupant, the injury being caused by moving of vehicle configuration elements backward while minimizing effects given on the entire weight and optimal stiffness of the vehicle not to impair impact resistance of the vehicle. SOLUTION: An occupant safety system 30 is used for protecting the vehicle seat 20.The occupant safety system includes: movable seat support members 35, 37 that are positioned under a vehicle seat 20 and that are movably connected with the vehicle seat 20 so that the seat 20 moves with the seat support members 35, 37; and a drive member 45 that is connected with the support members 35, 37 by a long and thin connection member 47. The drive member 45 includes a movable actuator that is connected with the connection member 47 and is composed to move back the connection member 47 by pushing back the actuator.
