PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of displaying multi-viewpoint images and single-viewpoint images without performing processing switching at a display unit side, and a method.SOLUTION: In the case that a display unit performs display in a multi-viewpoint image display mode, when outputting multi-viewpoint images such as three-dimensional images, output data are generated in which each viewpoint image forming the multi-viewpoint image is developed at a development position of each viewpoint image which is defined according to a multi-viewpoint image transmission format, and outputted to a display control unit. When outputting single-viewpoint images such as two-dimensional images, output data are generated in which the same single viewpoint image is developed at the development position of each viewpoint image defined according to the multi-viewpoint image transmission format, and outputted to the display control unit. This processing can smoothly switch and display the multi-viewpoint image and the single-viewpoint image without performing processing switching at a side of the display unit. |
