PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shielding device capable of driving a shield smoothly using a prescribed cord.SOLUTION: A shielding device of the present invention has leading runners 4, 504 supported movably along hanger rails 2, 501, and shielding materials (curtains 65, 507) on the lower surface side of the hanger rails, and the shielding materials are opened and closed as the leading runners move. Also included are transmission bodies (a towing cord 51 and an endless belt 514) linked with the leading runners and moving in the opening and closing directions, energizing means (a coil spring 64 and a twisted coil spring 511) energizing the leading runners toward the closing direction, and stoppers (a cord stopper 70 and a clutch mechanism 521) restricting or permitting movement of the transmission bodies. The transmission bodies constitute a closed loop involved in opening operation, and the stoppers undergo clutch operation when a movement of the transmission bodies in the opening direction is detected based on movements of the closed loop. |
