摘要 The present invention relates to methods, apparatuses, and systems for treating water. The methods, apparatuses and systems reduce scaling associated with solubilized water hardness using a sequence of water treatment agents, including a first threshold agent shedding weak cation exchange resin and a second magnesium compound conversion agent water treatment. The system or apparatus and methods according to the invention provide synergistic reduction of hard water scaling and elimination of cementing on the insoluble magnesium compound.

A method for reducing hard water scaling in a water source comprising: obtaining a first water treatment agent, wherein said first water treatment agent is an exhausted ionic resin that it is incapable of performing ion exchange; contacting a water source with the exhausted ionic resin in a first treatment reservoir to form a treated water source; and contacting the treated water source with a second water treatment agent in a second treatment reservoir, wherein the second water treatment agent comprises a metal oxide and/or hydroxide compound, wherein the first water treatment agent sheds a threshold agent, and wherein the solubilized water hardness in the treated water source does not result in hard water scaling.
