PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical device that has a simple configuration and can be reduced in size while ensuring rigidity, and an image forming apparatus that includes the scanning optical device.SOLUTION: A scanning optical device 6 includes a deflector 31, a first 1F&thetas; lens 91 and a second 2F&thetas; lens 92 through which light deflected by the deflector 31 passes, first to third mirrors 93, 94, and 95 that reflect the light passed through the first 1F&thetas; lens 91 and second 2F&thetas; lens 92 on the surface of an image carrier, and an optical box 30 that accommodates these components. The third mirror 95 is arranged to reflect the light deflected by the deflector 31 on the surface of the image carrier across a light path of the light. Second 2F&thetas; lenses 92A and 92B are supported by front and rear supporting tables 48 and 49, respectively, on the outside of the light path that is reflected by the first to third mirrors 93, 94, and 95. |
