A vehicle drive device is provided with: an engine which is mounted in a vehicle; a drive shaft which is mechanically connected to the engine to drive the vehicle; a first power connection/disconnection unit which is connected to the drive shaft; a motor generator which is mechanically connected to the drive shaft via the first power connection/disconnection unit; a second power connection/disconnection unit which is connected to the motor generator; and a supercharger which is mechanically connected to the motor generator via the second power connection/disconnection unit. This vehicle drive device can recover regenerated power with high efficiency.
