<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a convex embossing roll for ply bonding capable of applying embossing having high adhesive strength to a ply and preventing clogging between embossing convex parts by easily discharging paper powder occurring by embossing. <P>SOLUTION: In the embossing roll for ply bonding, linear embossing convex parts 3 and embossing groove parts 4 diagonally crossing a roll body rotational direction R are alternately disposed along the roll body rotational direction R, and a plurality of superposed pieces of sanitary paper are embossed and integrated. An embossing width L1 in a direction orthogonal to the roll body rotational direction R of the embossing convex parts 3 is set to 1.5-4.5 mm, an embossing length L2 in the roll body rotational direction R is set to 2-5 mm, and an interval L3 between adjacent embossing convex parts 3 is set to 2-5 mm.
