In one aspect, an apparatus having a magnetic locking mechanism can passively control the cyclical injection and release of fluid from the apparatus, whereby pressure of the fluid in the compartment can switch between first and second pressures.

1. A device for pressure modulation, comprising:
an enclosure comprising:
a proximal end and an opposing distal end;an inlet opening disposed at the proximal end and configured to receive a fluid into the enclosure; andan outlet opening disposed between the inlet opening and the distal end and configured to release at least a portion of the fluid from the enclosure; a first member movably disposed within the enclosure between the distal end and the inlet opening; and a second member mechanically coupled to the enclosure and disposed between the inlet opening and the outlet opening, the second member at least magnetically coupled to the first member, the second member configured to apply an attractive magnetic force to the first member.
