PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the risk of adverse effects of lumps of catalyst-supporting particles on an electrolyte membrane.SOLUTION: A fuel cell 10 includes an electrolyte membrane 121, and catalyst layers 122 and 123 formed on opposite sides of the electrolyte membrane 121. The catalyst layers 122 and 123 contain catalyst-supporting particles composed of activated carbon black, and a catalyst supported by the catalyst-supporting particles. The size frequency distribution of the catalyst-supporting particles obtained by laser diffraction size distribution measurement shows a first peak at a size of 1 micrometer or smaller, and no peaks with a height greater than or equal to a quarter of the height of the first peak at sizes greater than 1 micrometer. |
