This coloring agent for plastic contains a halogenated phthalocyanine pigment (A) satisfying the belowmentioned conditions (1) to (4): (1) the average number of halogen substitutions is 2.0-7.0 inclusive; (2) the halogen distribution width is at least 5; (3) the amount contained of aluminum phthalocyanine and halogenated aluminum phthalocyanine is no greater than 1.0 mass%; and (4) the central atom is at least one selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, manganese, iron, cobalt, zinc, nickel, and copper. As a result, provided is a coloring agent for plastic that can color a resin without changing the mechanical or chemical properties thereof, and in particular is able to obtain a plastic molded article having essentially no migration, extremely low discoloration due to heat, and no deformation such as warping, distorting, or the like.
