This object detection apparatus is provided with a camera attitude calculation unit, region setting unit, processing method determining unit, image generating unit, and object detection unit. The camera attitude calculation unit acquires information relating to attitude of a camera that is provided to a mobile body, the region setting unit relates to each other, on the basis of the attitude of the camera, an area in the image photographed by means of the camera, and a space to be photographed, and sets a plurality of detection regions in the image on the basis of the relationship. The processing method determining unit determines an image processing method, including resolution setting, with respect to each of the detection regions, the image generating unit generates region images by converting images in the detection regions into images at the set resolution, and the object detection unit detects an object using each of the region images. |
