PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-propelled wheelchair which it is easy for a user to switch forward driving and backward driving in the wheelchair while holding levers or hold parts. SOLUTION: The wheelchair is equipped with main wheels 26 which are installed on both the sides of a seat supported by a frame and levers 16 which are installed corresponding to the main wheels 26 and can be swung in directions X and Y centering on approximately central portions of the main wheels 26. Power-transmitting mechanisms 40 which can give turning capability to the main wheels 26 in the directions X and Y are respectively installed between the main wheel 26 and the lever 16. The wheelchair is equipped with switch mechanisms 96 having turning operation parts 102 which are attached to the ends of the levers 16 and can turn the levers 16 and longitudinal switch members 98 which are turned with turn of the turning operation parts 102 and can switch the directions of turning capability given to the main wheels 26 by the power-transmitting mechanisms 40.
