PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser unit featuring a diminished number of components and assembling easiness. SOLUTION: This scan optical device 31 has a laser unit 41 comprising a laser chip 61 which emits a laser beam L and a collimator lens 53 which converts the laser beam L emitted from the laser chip 61 to a parallel light. In addition, the device 31 forms an image on a photosensor drum 32 after deflectively scanning the laser beam L emitted from the laser unit 41.
