<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load on a user by enhancing operability while allowing an icon to be easily confirmed in selecting a menu using a menu icon. <P>SOLUTION: As an initial screen of the menu selection screen, menu icons (character icons A to E) and a position-fixed selection frame 102 are displayed on a display unit 100 (state 1). Here, when a user operates a shift key 110 which can be operated in one direction or two, the positions of the five menu icons are shifted by one in one direction (downward in this example) and state 2 is set in. Hereinafter, each time the shift key 110 is operated, the menu icons are shifted to set state 3, state 4, state 5, and then back to state 1. That is, the menu icons are cyclically shifted while successively passing through the fixed selection frame 102.
