A device for cutting glass sheet blanks in accordance with a given contour line includes a cutting machine 2 for cutting the contour line in the glass sheet blank, an edge-crushing machine 4 for separating the edge area, which has been detached by the cut, from the glass sheet blank, and a grinding machine 6 for smoothing the separated edge of the glass sheet blank. The grinding machine 6 comprises two grinding heads which simultaneously grind the opposite edges of the glass sheet blank. A conveyor 8 brings the glass sheet blank to each of the said machines for implementing their respective functions, and a computer-controlled control system 28 controls the three machines in accordance with digital data files which are prepared for each machine. <IMAGE>
