A vein photographing apparatus is provided to obtain the space-saving effect in the containing by keeping a guide member in a laid state. A photographing unit(12) photographs a vein pattern. A guide member(13) is built in an edge part of a photographing surface of the photographing unit, and guides the position of the palm on the photographing surface according as a finger comes in contact with a position of predetermined height from the photographing surface.
