<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method and a recording apparatus capable of recording easily apparatus internal information required for fault analysis, without having to add apparatuses anew or causing reduction in user's operability. <P>SOLUTION: The method for recording digital video information, adopted by the video apparatus comprises the steps of acquiring internal information of the apparatus; analyzing streams of digital video information to be recorded and detecting an unused packet identifier for a packet in which the internal information is recorded; processing the internal information of the apparatus into a packet information; and altering the streams of the video image information so as to include the packet information of the internal information of the apparatus.
