APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DROPLET ACTUATION

A droplet actuating apparatus and an actuating method thereof are provided to actuate the droplets by an SAW(surface acoustic wave) through the optic-acoustic effect, and quickly realize a new Lap-on-a-chip based on the droplets. A light source driving unit(10) generates the light of a repeated pulse shape and has a function of controlling the intensity of the generated light, the pulse duration and pulse repetition frequency. An optical location controller(20) receives the light generated from the light source driving unit and radiates the light to a location where the droplet(33) to be actuated exists. A droplet actuator(30) generates an SAW based on the optic-acoustic effect by the light radiated from the optical location controller, and actuates the droplet by using the SAW. A pulse light generator(11) generates the light of a pulse shape. A collimator(12) makes the generated pulse light into the parallel light.
