The device i.e. presence detector, has an opening defining a window area for entry of infra red-radiation. A sensor device (13.1) is arranged in a box part at a front side directly behind a window level in an edge portion of the window area. Other sensor devices (13.2-13.4) are provided independent of the former sensor device. One of mirror chamfers (18.1-18.n) aligns a spatial segment of a monitoring area optically to the former sensor device. Other mirror chamfers aligns another spatial segment optically to the latter sensor devices.
