An illumination device, system, and method are disclosed. The illumination device includes an active cooling mechanism and a controller for the same. When the controller activates or deactivates the active cooling mechanism, one or more optical elements on the illumination device are automatically moved, thereby adjusting at least one characteristic of the light emitted by the illumination device.

1. An adjustable illumination device, comprising:
one or more light sources configured to emit light; an active cooling element; a controller connected to the active cooling element and configured to control an operational state of the active cooling element; and a movable cover configured to move between a first position and a second position depending upon the operational state of the active cooling element, wherein the movable cover is configured to alter at least one characteristic of light emitted by the one or more light sources.
