A weft yarn tension applying apparatus in an air jet loom includes a stretch nozzle, a valve and an air supply tube. The stretch nozzle is mounted movable in a weft insertion direction at a position on a downstream side of the sub-nozzle of the slay so as to be directed perpendicular to the weft yarn guide passage. The valve is connected to an air tank and provided in a part of the frame. The air supply tube connects the stretch nozzle with the valve. The air supply tube includes a first air supply tube connected to the valve and a second air supply tube connected to the stretch nozzle.
