PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a topical application composition for neutralizing reactive oxygen species associated with ultraviolet radiation, or for protecting the skin and the like from the reactive oxygen species generated in association with the ultraviolet radiation.SOLUTION: The invention provides a composition comprising an anti-oxidant or a combination of the anti-oxidant. The anti-oxidant or the combination of the anti-oxidant substantially suppresses both of the UV-induced peroxidation of skin lipids and the formation of the UV-induced reactive oxygen species in epidermis. The composition is preferred to contain vitamin E as an anti-oxidant, and is preferred to further contain at least one kind of sunscreen activators selected from homosalate, octocrylene, avobenzone, oxybenzone, octisalate, and the like. |
