PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column device capable of preventing or restraining variation of relative distance between positions where a lower bracket and an upper bracket are mounted to the vehicle. SOLUTION: A front edge section of an EA plate 42 is jointed to the lower bracket 20, and also jointed to the upper bracket 30 through an ironing pin 33. Therefore, movement of each bracket is regulated by the EA plate 42, and it is possible to prevent or restrain variation of relative distance between the positions where both the brackets are mounted to the vehicle. As a result, it is also possible to improve assembly performance of the steering column device 1 to the vehicle body. Besides, the lower bracket 20 is jointed to the upper bracket 30 by the EA plate 42 necessary as a shock absorbing means, there is not need to add new components for jointing both the brackets.
