PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide target detection capable of detecting a target without radiating any excessive radio wave. ! SOLUTION: A target detection device as an embodiment of the invention includes an information acquisition part and a setting part. The information acquisition part receives a wave arriving from a target to be detected and acquires information associated with the target to be detected from features of the wave. The setting part sets control parameters defining characteristics of a wave to be transmitted toward the target to be detected based upon the information acquired by the information acquisition part.
