A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a main spacer, and a sub spacer. The first substrate has multiple pixels, the second substrate faces the first substrate, and the liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The main spacer, disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate to be in contact with the first and second substrates, has a first upper surface and a first bottom surface larger in size than the first upper surface. The sub spacer, disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate to be in contact with either the first substrate of the second substrate and apart from the other, has a second upper surface and a second bottom surface larger in size than the second upper surface. Also, if a first area ratio is defined by dividing the size of the first upper surface by the size of the first bottom surface and a second area ratio is defined by dividing the size of the second upper surface by the size of the second bottom surface, the first area ratio is lower than the second area ratio. |
