Decentralized distributed computing system

A distributed system includes a plurality of nodes connected over a network. Each node has a unique node identifier which identifies the node in the distributed system. Tasks are launched from any node in the distributed system and include one or more node identifiers. If a node receives a task including its node identifier, the node executes the task. Each node may store each task in a log. If a node fails, after recovering from the failure, the node queries the distributed system for tasks which were not received and tasks which were not completed due to the failure.

1. A non-transitory computer readable medium with executable instructions stored thereon, where the executable instructions cause a distributed system having a plurality of nodes to execute operations comprising:
assigning a unique identifier to each of the plurality of nodes; broadcasting, from one of the nodes to the distributed system, a task message instructing execution of a task at one or more nodes assigned to execute the task, the task message including one or more unique identifiers, respectively, of the one or more nodes assigned to execute the task; storing the task message at each node that receives the task message; executing the task instructed by the task message at a respective node if the unique identifier of the respective node matches with one of the one or more unique identifiers included in the task message; and broadcasting, to the distributed system, a completion message from each of the nodes which executed the task instructed in the task message.
