The purpose of the present invention is to provide a communication system wherein data generated by a device to be utilized can be utilized regardless of a common service platform to which the device to be utilized is connected. A communication system according to the present invention is provided with: a common service control apparatus (30) that collects data generated by a device apparatus (10); a common service control apparatus (130) that collects data generated by a device apparatus (110); and an application server (50) that provides a service using the data collected by the common service control apparatus (30). Upon reception of a message from the application server (50), the common service control apparatus (30) determines whether the common service control apparatus (30) is connected to a designated target device apparatus. If the common service control apparatus (30) is not connected to the target device apparatus, the common service control apparatus (30) collects data from the target device apparatus (110) via the common service control apparatus (130).
