The apparatus has an acceleration chamber transferring objects from a storage apparatus (22) to an object inserter (10), where the acceleration chamber includes a vortex chamber defining a periphery and an opening in the periphery. A metering drum is rotated around the vortex chamber, where the metering drum comprises metering holes moved into alignment with the opening in the periphery of the vortex chamber. The metering holes receive the objects through the opening in the periphery of the vortex chamber and transfer the objects to an inserter wheel (50). The object inserter is a hopper, a single-filter rod, dual-filter rod and multi-filter rod.
