PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grained artificial leather which has high air permeability and moisture permeability and is excellent in design while having high industrial productivity. ! SOLUTION: In a method for producing a grained artificial leather, a polymer elastomer solution is applied to the surface of a substrate layer and dried to form a skin layer. The polymer elastomer solution contains microcapsules and a high-boiling organic solvent. A first heat treatment is carried out at a temperature equal to or higher than the expansion start temperature of the microcapsules and equal to or lower than the boiling point of the high-boiling organic solvent, and then a second heat treatment is carried out to volatilize the high-boiling organic solvent. It is preferable that the first heat treatment is carried out by hot-air drying, and that the second heat treatment is carried out by nipping the substrate layer and the skin layer with heating rollers.
