PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission method capable of reducing processing for acquiring reference clock information on a receiving side.SOLUTION: A transmission method includes a generation step S151 for generating a transmission frame for storing a plurality of second transmission units storing one or more first transmission units for storing an IP packet, and a transmission step S152 for transmitting the generated frame. In the generation step S151: first reference clock information indicating a time for playing content in a data structure different from that of an MMT (MPEG Media Transport) packet is included in a target IP packet stored in the first transmission unit positioned at the front of the second transmission unit positioned at the front inside the frame; second reference clock information indicating a time for playing content is stored in control information inside the frame; and the target IP packet is not subjected to header compression.
