Ultrasound generator with low pass output for a handheld device

The generator (100) has an ultrasonic transducer (108) producing ultrasound when providing a digital driver signal (110) to an ultrasonic transducer (108). An interconnected low pass filter (114) is provided between a power amplifier (102) and the transducer for filtering high frequency components i.e. harmonics, from the driver signal and for low-loss sinusoidal signal forming of the driver signal. The low pass filter performs a harmonic-free actuation of the transducer. The power amplifier is designed as a digital power amplifier such as half-bridge circuit power amplifier. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a handheld device (2) a method for producing ultrasound.
