<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a hybrid vehicle equipped with a first electric motor, a second electric motor, and an automatic transmission, the vehicle being capable of optimizing a coast downshift. <P>SOLUTION: For the coast downshift, because the transmission is progressed by generating a reaction torque by the first electric motor MG1, the electric power balance can be established without increasing transmission time.
