An electromagnetic generator (1) has a coil assembly forming a stator winding (2). A set of permanent magnets (3) are mounted spaced-apart on a rotor (4) which is rotatable in an open-sided channel (7) defined by the stator winding (2) to generate an electric current in the stator winding (2). The stator winding (2) comprises a series of elementary coils (6), each having a pair of interconnected semi-coils (8, 9) which are spaced-apart such that each semi-coil (8, 9) locates in magnetic field portions generated at opposite poles of a magnet (3), when the magnet (3) is positioned centrally between the semi-coils (8, 9) during movement of the magnet (3) through the channel (7) formed by the stator winding (2). <Figure 1> |
