PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion control system which can suppress increase of combustion noise in a switch from a period of carrying out a pre-fuel injection to a period of not carrying out the pre-fuel injection.SOLUTION: At a switch from a period of carrying out a pre-fuel injection to a period of not carrying out the pre-fuel injection, an ECU lags a fuel injection timing of a first main fuel injection so that an ignition timing of a first main fuel injection is identical to an ignition timing in a target air-fuel ratio. Then, the ECU sets an injection interval between a start timing of the first main fuel injection and a start timing of a second main fuel injection so that, in a frequency band in which the sound pressure of combustion resulting from the first main fuel injection has the maximum value, the pressure wave of the sound pressure is canceled out by the pressure wave of the sound pressure of combustion resulting from the second main fuel injection. The ECU lags a fuel injection timing of the second main fuel injection on the basis of the injection interval. |
