1,006,564. Brakes in overhead rail systems. C. D. TWIGG. June 8, 1962 [March 15, 1962], No. 10018/62. Heading F2E. In an overhead running rail system having track rails 1 along which runners provided with means for suspending loads therefrom are adapted to be displaced, braking means 7 operable from a remote source are provided adjacent to the runners. As shown the rails 1 are suspended by J-shaped hangers 2 having attached thereto brackets 3 to which are pivoted links 8. The other end of links 8 are pivoted to a rod 11 carrying a T-shaped bar 5 that is provided with a channel 6 in which is fixed a length of rubber or other suitable braking material 7. The braking means is applied by parallel displacement of the bar 5 by an operative engaging a hook of a pole with the lower end of one of a number of levers 9 pivoted to brackets 4 which are secured to the hangers 2. |
