<p>A process for producing a sponge, which is characterized by comprising the steps of: providing an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer; providing a solution of a polysaccharide substance; mixing the aforementioned two solutions together and thermally coagulating the mixture, thereby producing a coagulated mass having the water-soluble polymer dispersed therein; boiling the coagulated mass in water to remove the water-soluble polymer from the coagulated mass, thereby producing a gel-like substance; and lyophilizing the gel-like substance to produce a water-absorbable sponge.</p> |
