A cigarette holder comprises an adjustable inlet for introducing air into the smoke from the cigarette, the inlet consisting of one or several apertures 5 and being provided in a first tubular member 4, and a second tubular member 19 having an edge which is movable axially of the first member so as to adjust the size of the inlet. The member 4 is in telescopic engagement with a spring 17 biased tubular cigarette holding and ejecting cap 10. In one embodiment, the member 4 includes two or more triangular shaped apertures 5 and is threaded to engage the threaded second tubular member 19. Preset rotation of the member 19 controls the area of the apertures 5 exposed and hence the proportion of air introduced into the smoke. A spring 20 provides frictional locking of the preset member 19. In another embodiment (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) a second tubular member (26) engages the interior of the member 4 and is freely rotatable therein but secured against axial displacement by an annular ridge (28). The top edge (27) of the member (26) is delineated in a specially shaped curve so that on rotation the member (26) progressively closes a single aperture 5 in the member 4.</p> |
