1. A velocity calculation device comprising:
a vertical direction acceleration detection portion that is mounted on a vehicle and detects an acceleration in a vertical direction generated correspondingly to undulation of a road surface; a horizontal direction angular velocity detection portion that is mounted on the vehicle and detects an angular velocity about a horizontal axis orthogonal to a travel direction of the vehicle generated correspondingly to the undulation of the road surface; and a velocity calculation portion that calculates a velocity in the travel direction of the vehicle on the basis of dividing the acceleration in the vertical direction by the angular velocity about the horizontal axis, wherein the velocity calculation portion calculates the velocity of the vehicle in succession using accelerations in the vertical direction detected continuously in succession at a predetermined sampling frequency by the vertical direction acceleration detection portion and angular velocities about the horizontal axis detected continuously in succession at the predetermined sampling frequency by the horizontal direction angular velocity detection, wherein the velocity calculation portion calculates a first velocity in the succession of calculated velocities, the first velocity immediately following a second velocity in the succession of calculated velocities, by changing a predetermined sampling number of data points about a data point corresponding to a position of the vehicle at which the second velocity is calculated. |
