The present invention relates to a method for quantitatively evaluating a rock cleavage by mechanical properties thereof that can evaluate cleavage strength of the rock through a test and measurement on a volumetric strain of the rock. The method includes the steps of: collecting square rock blocks from granite; cutting the surface of the rock block in a direction parallel to the surface of three cleavages; dividing the rock block into a plurality of rock samples; producing core specimen from the rock sample in a direction perpendicular to three cleavages; applying stress to the core specimens; and measuring mechanical reaction from the stress applied to the core specimens, calculating a volumetric strain (ε_v) for each cleavage from the following equation to evaluate relative strength on the surface of three cleavages. |
