The present invention relates to an electrolyte and to a lithium secondary battery including the same. The electrolyte includes a compound of chemical formula 1 as an electrolyte additive, improves battery properties of a lithium secondary battery, especially discharges maintaining rate under high voltage, controls gas production, and improves overcharge preventing properties.
