The method involves detecting a configuration change (301) that is levelled with a data exchange interface, and inserting circuit data and data bound for a modem in a frame (303). Information representative of a request for change of distribution of band-width between the circuit data and data in the form of packets is inserted in the frame. The modem is reconfigured (305) by preserving coding and modulation diagram and by declaring a data throughput in the form of circuits defined in a function of detected configuration change.
