<p>Disclosed are an image display device capable of improving user′s immersion and a method for operating the same. The image display device according to embodiments of the present invention comprises: a back cover; a display unit including a first region and a second region extending from both ends of the first region to bend forward in response to the shape of the back cover and outputting image information to the first and second regions; a photographing unit to recognize the position of a user within a predetermined range based on the display unit; a detection unit to detect a distance value from the display unit and a viewing angle of the user with respect to the display unit based on the recognized position of the user; and a control unit, wherein the control unit differently applies brightness compensation values of the image information output to the first and second regions based on the detected distance value and viewing angle.</p> |
