<p>The receiver is for an SSB transmission system transmitting information as amplitude modulation and has a quadrature demodulator (8) in which the received signal is demodulated by two regenerated carriers, one pi/2 out of phase with the other. The two demodulated signals are filtered and passed through respective samples (40, 41) operating in synchronism, of respective autoadaptive numerical equalisers (42, 43). The sampled signals are applied through respective computer circuits (45, 46) and summed in a summing circuit (44) and then passed through a decision circuit (46). The input and output of the decision circuit (47) are fed back to both the computer circuits (45, 46) which operate on the sampled signals to provide a summed signal (m) according to the function: y(m)=sum (k) a(n)n1(m-2k)+b(k) x2(m-2k) where a(k) and b(k) are balance coefficients and k and m are integers. The system provides an improved recovery of information.</p> |
